They have $1 oysters and $4 bubbly on Wednesday nights. Most romantic (and economical) Wednesdays ever!

Cozy atmosphere and delicious dollar oysters= bliss.

Oysters = love, and I love the oysters at Hog Island. It's the next best thing to sitting at their outpost in Marshall and shuckin' those badboys yourself. The grilled cheese sandwich makes for a great addition to a dozen of their fine oysters. And you can enjoy it all while basking in the glory of our beautiful Bay.

Unbeatable, fresh, delicious oysters, which is why there is usually a huge crowd outside waiting for one of the (fewer than 10?) tables. Now, the best way to get oysters is really drive up to Tomales Bay and have them fish 'em out of the water for you, but for some reason I couldn't put that on my list here.

Although it doesn't have the draw of a dollar oyster night, this Castro institution has been "shucking for 34 years" for a reason.

always fresh and super good oysters! I like to come for oysters and champagne with my girls.

The best seafood in SF. First come first serve bar seating only. Make sure you get there early. Only open for lunch.

Mongol General: WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE?
Mongol: The open steppe, a fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.
Mongol General: WRONG! Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: Getting a $4.00 oyster for $1 at Waterbar's Happy Hour, drinking a delicious $5 cocktail special, overlooking the supreme views of the Bay Bridge, feeling classy as shit.
Mongol General: GOOD! That is good.

What's there to say? These oysters are delicious and local. So much the better! Head down to the Embarcadero and park yourself around 10:00am for some fresh Hog Island oysters. You won't regret it!

Unfortunately many purveyors of dollar oysters have upped their prices, and offer offensively subpar mollusks hardly worth your buck. How dare they. Nevermind, come here, they have the best happy hour oysters and the wait staff wont even bat an eye at how, erm, fiscally responsible you are.

Happy hour!

Come here for a true San Francisco experience- the Sancimino family, (owner's since 1946) will shuck hundreds of the the freshest oysters right before your eyes. Be prepared to wait as there are only 19 bar seats! Enjoy!

I saw Jerry Hall there once. Just sayin'.

Hog Island Oysters. Great Happy Hour Specials!!
1
Tadich Grill, being the oldest restaurant in The United States, has long since had dibs on all the prime oysters the bay has to offer. At least, it seems that way.
1
Nettie's Crab Shack is a great place for oysters! It's not the main focus, but they are fresh and taste even better while sitting outside!

Swan Oyster Depot fresh oyster daily, long line, Waterbar too, can't beat that $1 oyster, a Million sold already. Farallon has some oyster too.

I love Waterbar in SF but I am also looking for a place that serves oyster rocker-feller in SF...anyone have a place in mind?
9
I LOVE Oyster Rockerfellers! I'm not sure about SF, but Scott's Seafood in Oakland is the best I've had so far. I'm open to finding a rival.

It's no coincidence that the oldest restaurant in SF is home to the best oysters in the city, they got dibs. Tadich Grill is exemplary in all things seafood, and should be emulated by their competitors competitors.
1
I love Hog & Rocks in the Mission. Great atmosphere and eclectic menu.
11
Sounds interesting - what do you recommend?
1
Anchor & Hope has the best $1 Oyster Happy Hour ever! Succulent Sweetwaters when I went! Suu Fat Seafood Co in the Mission is great if you wanna shuck 'em at home. Always fresh and inexpensive.

Woodhouse Fish Company - $1 on Tuesdays at the Fillmore location!
7
Per oyster? What a deal! I can finally afford to give my fingers a break from plying them off the rocks one by one.

1
Hog Island Oysters hands down.
9
I have never been here before. Why do you prefer Hog Island Oysters over other joints in SF?
cafe amis on union 1$ oysters and the sauce is to die for. give them a try. and the french onion soup is so good.
2
1
Mayes Oyster and Steak House $1 happy hour 5:30-6:30p. http://www.mayessf.com/
5
I had been there several times late-night and only recently realized it was a legitimate dining spot. I've heard many good things.
9
I'll go oyster crazy here! $1 oysters only for an hour? Mayes Oyster and Steak House better be ready!
14
$1 happy hour oysters?! Gotta go.
Yup. It's not too bad. Then after grabbing a few oysters & dinner.. You're ready for the night scene there on Polk St. There's plenty of bars/dance floors.
1
Hog Island Oysters in the Ferry Building
5
Love that spot, but every time I go it's packed!
Well, with good food and good restaurants you have to expect either high prices or a lot of people!
I've never waited more than 30 minutes there, the service is fast and the turn around is fast
5
Agreed. They certainly run a very efficient ship.
try cafe des amis on union they have the best oysters on a half shell.

Hog Island Oysters in the Ferry Building!

Excellent choice. Arguably the freshest in town.

I've only been to two oyster bars in SF and they're both really good, Swan Oyster Depot and Anchor Oyster Bar. I don't think I can choose a favorite between the two, so just alternate between the two!
9
What differs between these two places?

I've a distant memory, and a good one, of a plate of oysters from McCormick & Kuleto's. Theirs blow the rest out of the water.

I've been aching to go there, but that place is always PACKED!

Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe has an awesome oyster happy hour and a bar with one of the best views in SF. You can get 4 oysters for 5 bucks and they are out of this world. I ordered mine baked with some kind of cheese on top. They were delicious!
7
McCormick & Kuleto's boasts a "famous" happy hour complemented by a view and a stacked menu. Wonder whose view is better?
9
1
Waterbar! $1 happy hour oysters, incredible view. Is there any more to life? I thinketh not.
5
Maybe $1 Bloody Marys to match?!...And no, I don't know of a place that yields such magic, but it sure would be nice.
9
If you find that place, Bri, you better come pick me up!
9
Wow only $1 at this place!? I will definitely have to go!

On a sunny Weekend afternoon, nothing is better than an outdoor table at Hog Island Oysters at the Ferry Building, a bottle of bubbly and a variety of their freshly shucked oysters as well as the baked varieties. The Harrissa baked oysters are especially good but I also like the casino style baked oysters.

I also have heard Hog and rocks is a great spot, although I have not yet had the pleasure.
31
Fish and farm also has a great oyster appetizer with Miyagi's and Pearl points shucked fresh to order and they offer $3 oyster shooters on their happy hour menu. The really awesome thing is Happy Hour is from 4-6 and then late night happy hour starts at 9 pm.
9
I love this question. Heather, you sound like the go-to person for oysters. The way you described Hog Island Oysters makes me wanna go ASAP when I have a free weekend.

Anchor Oyster Bar is awesome

How is their clam chowder?
