I am a two cups of coffee (at least) a day kind of gal. Most importantly the coffee is delicious, there is almost always a place to sit and they have drink specials everyday. I would rate Big Bear Cafe as equally good (but Chinatown might be more accessible to people).

Open City Sister restaurant to Tryst Coffee House Bar and Lounge, Open City deserves first place for bringing quality beans and caffeines to the breakfast scene. Right over the Calvert Bridge, Open City boasts baristas who have perfected the espresso experience, and better yet, can also call on a server to bring a freshly made omelett to complement the morning joe.

Big Bear Cafe. A little off the beaten path on 1st and R, NW, in Bloomingdale, but they do a great French press at a great price. Uber-hipsterish vibe.
