I go to the legendary Astor Place Hairstylist, 2 Astor Place. If you don't have a lot of money but you need a haircut, this is the place to go. Don't expect a glam interior -- you are paying for the skills! I have long, layered hair, and the stylist did a good job -- something I can't say is true of all higher-priced salons. If you want good, basic service, this is for you. If you want pampering, that's fine, but you'll want to go someplace else.
