Osman & Joe's Steak 'n Egg Kitchen If you want a hole in the wall, hit the Steak and Egg. Get a giant plate of pancakes (I suggest the ones with Reese's Pieces), plus hash browns and biscuits. And a milkshake. Greasy but oh so good.

Awesome (and authentic) Brazillian food at Grill from Ipanema (http://www.thegrillfromipanema.com/). Highly recommended!

Oohh's & Aahhs for great soul food. Unreal wings, sweet potatoes, and mac n cheese. Gets insanely pricey on the weekends for a meal after all the bars close, but during the week it's great.
What a great name! I love soul food.
I'd pay top dollar for good mac n cheese, unregretfully. Although, my health will likely haunt me. How steep is the price hike?

Oops, mistyped that. Actually it only gets expensive after around 1 or 2am for their late-night menu. The price more than doubles, but if you're on U St. craving some good warm comfort food after hours, it always hits the spot.

Weekday/weekend has nothing to with the price hike, just the time of night.
I see. Thanks for the heads up. I will use this information wisely.

I love Adam Express. The owners are the nicest people in the world and it is so delicious and cheap!

OMG I loooove bibimbap like you don't even know!! Thank you!!
I'm sure I've heard of bibimbap, but, as to what it is, I haven't the foggiest.

Adam Express. A tiny Korean hidden gem in Mount Pleasant that you will miss if you so much as blink. It looks pretty grungy from the outside, but I promise it is soooo good. The bi bim bap and Chicken Kan Pun Gi are my recommendations.
A grungy exterior, more often than not, means good food at low prices.

There are definitely exceptions. ;)

Lalibela. Best Ethiopian I've ever had and gosh darn cheap too. It isn't a whole lot to look at, but sit on the patio if you can - good 14th & P St, NW people watching. The tomato salad, simple and really frigging good. I'm told that it's even better than Zed's. Oh, and honey wine - really awesome after a crappy day at work. Or really any day and time it's good... I'm a fan of the kitfo (raw beef) - think carpaccio with kick and a bit mushy that you grab with special bread... And anything with lentils or potatoes involved is homey and good here. You can adjust the hotness of everything too, so you won't hurt yourself. Happens to be the perfect place to catch the DC Pride Parade - food, drink and half naked gay boys. And the second runner up for me is Well-Dressed Burrito. For reals a hole in the wall. Down an alley even! Everything is cheap, ginormous, fresh and yummy. They cater too I think...
You sell really well. I love Ethiopian, and love to eat with my hands. It feels human.

Peruvian food done right can be really hard to find. El Pollo Rico chicken is delicious, well-cooked, and tender. The steak fries are awesome, and the dipping sauces are the perfect topping for them. Love this place!
Hmm, how does Peruvian food differ from, let's say, Mexican food?

Awesome burgers, equally good hand-cut fries, and great milkshakes
