The service is reliable, they are an institution in DC, it's quintessential in-crowd watching at its best.

Not only is it really cozy and chic, it has terrific food! It is the perfect relaxed environment for a first date.

You don't need to take someone to a swanky-over-the-top-five-star hot spot on a first date. Way too much pressure! You need to see if this person can hang out and hang loose, kick back and enjoy a beer, maybe hold his or her own in a game of pool. In short, you need casual and fun. Go with Buffalo Billiards and see if your new boo can have some fun.

Ceiba makes it easy to impress your date with their innovative Latin-American fusion. The chique, yet elegant setting has both the candlelight atmosphere in the dining room, and great happy hours at the bar, depending on the nature of the date and how well you know the person you are dating.

Sticky Rice couples as fantastic sushi spot and bar. The atmosphere is casual, but not too casual and the interior is interesting. You can get dressed up if you wish, or stay casual -either works for Sticky Rice. There's always music and a crowd. You'll never feel like you're on an awkward, too-forced first date here.

Dean & Deluca - I'm biased, but my guy and I had one of our first dates here. If you go when the weather's warm, it is beyond romantic. We traveled separately and met for breakfast, enjoying fruit, pastries and hot tea outside on the patio beneath the overhang while it drizzled outside and we talked the morning away. The cobblestones and canal behind the restaurant are so picturesque, and there are enough other people around to keep things light and casual. When the meal is over, you can walk along M street and window shop or grab a treat from Georgetown Cupcake... Or for something a little quieter walk along the canal instead. It's perfect.

During the winter they have a great wine and cheese happy hour in their lobby with homemade gourmet s'mores passed out to anyone hanging out. Add in the Christmas Tree and the roaring fire and it makes for a great evening.

** Quick Correction: Was referring to the Georgetown Ritz Carlton in the post above.

Walking the trails of Great Falls park, enjoying the scenic views of nature together while bringing take-out from a good rest. and stopping at one of the convenient large-formed rocks to eat and chill together...
