largest selection of tequila and a variety of authentic food

Tommy's is a place i frequent, weekly. Not only are they the most popular Tequila bar, but being from southern california, I'd say their Mexican food is top notch!

Awwwwww yeaaaaaahhhhh. Tommy's is awesome all the way around. Great mole, amazing margaritas, and if you go often enough, you become part of the family.

A little out of the way, but worth it. Their mole is rich, and their margaritas are strong. The ambience is dark, and the food's far from light.

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant - I wish I had more to explain my choice, but all I can say is that if you don't like Tommy's margaritas, you don't understand life.

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant for tequila that isn't even made anymore!

...such as?

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant is dimly lit, classy but not fancy, and delicious. And, there isn't a person in this world that doesn't love their margaritas.

Have you even been here for brunch? Try it. Also FYI, Tommy's Marg was on SF's top 25 things to try in the city!

Sounds like Tommy's Mexican Restaurant is the forerunner! Loving the new business tag feature, Pinchit.

Yes, the margaritas are delicious, but the food, the food on the other hand is nothing special. Unless, you know of a delicious dish I haven't tried yet.
10
Trisha, how is the food here?

What makes them soo good?
10
Contest, contest! Just kidding.
14
I dunno, sounds like an awesome challenge...

I will selflessly volunteer myself for a seat on the judge's panel.
10
I, too, will selflessly lend my tastebuds. For society's sake, of course.

Tommy's wins. Landslide.

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant on Geary and like 30 something avenue. Largest selection of 100% agave outside mexico
8
I love Tommy's, with out a doubt. But, there's one negative I've got to throw out there: the food isn't all that good. I regularly find myself relying heavily on the bottomless chips and salsa, which are very good, by the way. What do you get, if anything at all?
10
So, dinner somewhere else first, then Tommy's for margaritas. What are some good food options nearby?
8
That's a good question. I've never attempted the split.
10
I see an exploratory tequila and dinner night is in order..
8
Right you are. Perhaps soon.
14
Is this the part where I mention Tia Margaritas again? Their food is quite good, but their tequila selection does pale in comparison.
8
I would feel a little dishonest doing drinks at the one and dining at the other.
10
We're gonna have to bust you out of this restaurant monogamy you've been exhibiting, Alex. I'm gonna shove you in my car and then take you one place for appetizers, another for entrees, another for drinks, and still another for dessert. I'll make a food whore out of you yet.
14
It'd be like bar hopping, but with food.
8
We may be onto something. A new trend. Then we can claim we started it and no one will believe us.
10
...after which we can direct them to the proof on this Pinchit thread. Genius!

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant in the inner richmond...agave margaritas!!!

Tommy's Joint on Van Ness? Or is there another Tommy's?
8
I wish there were more. Tommy's is on Geary in the Middle Richmond. A trek for most. Well worth it, though.

Popular choice! Why Tommy's?
13
Where's tommy's located?
10
I think I've seen a "Tommy's" on Van Ness. I wonder if that's the right one?
8
Tommy's is on Geary and 25thish. It's easy to miss. Keep your eyes peeled.
10
Any landmarks I should be on the look out for? Like, stumbling Marina-ites in sombreros?
1
Tommy's Mexican Restaurant in the Outer Richmond. They get you hammered!
10
So I take it that Tommy's isn't shady about their pouring?
5
I love a bartender who isn't stingy with the agave juice!
8
Getting hammered at Tommy's hurts my wallet a little, to be honest. I like to get a pitcher, tops, for myself.

I like Tres Agaves. The bartenders serve them just like they do Tommy's Mexican Restaurant. It's just lime juice, tequila, and agave nectar...on the rocks. The bar can be loud, but you stay for the flavorful drinks.
10
Yeah, it is pretty loud...but after the third or fourth margarita there, the voices in your head start to drown out the background noise.
9
No doubt.
8
Tommy's sets the standard by which all others are judged. Tres Agaves sets the standard by which all others, except Tommy's, are judged. Does that make any sense?

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant, on Geary in The Richmond, happily houses the holiest of margaritas. They're not difficult to find, but impossible to define. Meaning, the list of tequilas at Tommy's runs hundreds of names long. Fortunately, for the concerned customers and doubtful drinkers, each path, no matter the price, terminates in the "best margarita" of your life up until the point of your return.
13
do they have any fun flavors? Or just traditional lime?
14
If I remember, they have tons of flavors. They also have tons of tequila. I know you can get a "degree" in tequila tasting- over the course of a few days trying various flights of tequila. They've got some really great bottles.
8
I think I may know a graduate of their program. If I'm right, it's taken him places.

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant on Geary in the Outer Richmond is the perfect first-date spot. Dimly lit, but not too fancy, good food, but not too pricey, and the best margarita within the city limits all combine to leave your hypothetical date full, impressed, and pleasantly tipsy. The homey environment is an added advantage that may lend you, in the eyes of your date, the air of someone who knows what he’s talking about when it comes to tequila and Mexican food.
