Probably the best burrito I've had while living in the city! If it looks like a dive from the outside, chances are the food will be pretty delicious.
2
Biggest burrito I have ever had and the most delicious. Best part about this place is getting to relive the leftovers the next day.

My friends and I have driven to Taquerias El Farolito many times late at night after a night of drinking. So deliciousss drunk and not drunk.

Taquerias El Farolito is so delicious! I recommend their carnitas wholeheartedly.

Carne asada & shrimp super burrito.

It's 2am.

You're stumbling around in search of a super burrito.

But not just any super burrito - it's gotta have fresh salsa, sour cream, and avocados the size of fists.

But wait - it's late and you're out of cash.

Don't worry, El Farolito's gonna make everything all better.

I see your El Farolito Super Suiza and raise you a breakfast burrito from Taqueria Cancun...

El Farolito is definitely the best. I brought my late mom a burrito from EF, and after that she would cross town on the bus just to have their food. Their green tomatillo salsa is the best I have tasted of all the taquerias in town. They used to have the cheapest prices along with that delicious food, but their prices have risen with the times. Fast, fresh, and freakin' good!

This recommendation is hardly news, but El Farolito has the best tacos al pastor that I've ever tasted. For lighter, less greasy but equally delicious Mexican food, I head over to Papalote a block away on Valencia.

Where to begin... Well, the fact that there is a line out the door the MAJORITY of the time that I eat here (which is slowly becoming M-F) is a good place to start. The next is that El Farolito on 24th and Mission St. knows their product and delivers it with incredible speed to their customers. To be blunt, if I learned that I was going to choke and die on a Chorizo Super Burrito from El Farolito, I would be glad knowing that would be the last taste I would ever know.

If that doesn't sell you, then 50 cent tortilla chips won't either and they do that too...

VIVA EL FAROLITO!

By far the best mexican food! Perfect amount of grease, authentic, CHEAP and open late night! One order of Suiza please....
1
I came out of the womb eating an El Farolito burrito from the Excelsior and now my staple diet consists of super greasy super suizas /w carne asada and jalapeños from the Mission location.

I eat here all the time when I've had too much to drink and it's spectacular. The coolest part is - it's still spectacular when I'm sober.

Open late, cheap and the guys that work there are really nice. Plus their food is the most authentic Mexican food that I've had in Northern California.
Tacos or quesadilla super suiza.

I second Taquerias El Farolito! Great for all meals, but starting off your morning with a breakfast burrito here will pretty much ensure good luck all day. Guaranteed.
14
I love their late night fare, I'm sure I'd love their morning food if I'm up for it.
10
Their late night fare is incredible, one of my go-to spots!
11
Yes! I've had Taquerias El Farolito for b.fast before - perfect dose of grease, meat and cheese. Breakfast of champions!

Taquerias El Farolito has the best burritos period. Try the shrimp burrito because it is amazing.

Shrimp in the morning? I am not so sure..

La Taqueria has some awesome tacos! Also, you can't beat Taquerias El Farolito (the yellow sign).
8
Can't beat a burrito from Taquerias El Farolito. Never ventured into taco territory, though. I'll get one aside my burrito next time.
11
I always get the Suiza and bite off someone's burrito, but I can only imagine their tacos! :). One drunken night...soon
10
How late is this place open? I find myself often looking for late night places at around 2:00am...

Thanks. What would you recommend. Got a usual?
10
I don't think you can ever go wrong Taquerias El Farolito, but they do a pretty mean Super carne asada burrito.
7
Marcus we are totally on the same page here! what do you usually order?
8
I can't count the times the words Super/Grande Carne Asada Burrito have come out of my mouth...or the times their referent has gone into my mouth.
7
i usually stick with quesadilla suiza but everything there is SO GOOD!!!
11
Love the Suiza, best grease ever! Everything is SO, SO good!

1
Taquerias El Farolito! 'Cuz if it's late night, you're probably half past crunk, and nothing will cure your ails more than a huge, bursting-at-the-tortilla-seams burrito.
10
Some of the best burritos in town.

Taquerias El Farolito. I love that feeling at 2 in the morning when you want something GOOD to eat and you suddenly remember that you can still get a gigante burrito in the mission. Thank God for late-night grub!

love.love.love.

Regardless if it’s two in the afternoon or two in the morning, Taquerias El Farolito burritos are fail-proof any time! As big as your head, delicious as a five star restaurant dish, and cheap as a trunk-derived Louis Vuitton bag, I may just start lobbying they change their name to El Far-out-lito! Order, gorge (all the while wishing you had two mouths), go home happy. End of story.
31
And open late as heck. Taquerias El Farolito is a great post-party spot.
18
Fo' realz!
11
Yes! We've all agreed that the nice yellow sign of Taquerias El Farolito is a winner for drunkies or AM starvers. Suiza anyone?
25
Love good Mexican after a night of too much beer, but room for just one more.

I should take my original posting back as there are probably some occasions you shouldn't indulge in the monstrosity that an EF burrito is; when it's likely that you'll be rushing to the bathroom and praying before the porcelain god, for example...
1
Taquerias El Farolito Taqueria is a delicious late night stop in the Mission. My husband and I had heard about this place and needed to check it out. We split a chicken burrito because it was huge, and I'm really glad we did. Not only was the burrito delicious, but we managed to eat for two at under $8 in SF!
9
I love Taquerias El Farolito! It's on the money for late night drunchies.
7
You can never go wrong with Taquerias El Farolito. Definitely get more bang for your buck here. Love the quesadilla suiza!!!
9
I love the quesadilla suiza, too!
5
I always wondered how well this place would do if it wasn't the only place open at 2am within a 6 block radius. Regardless, they're still great.
9
Interesting point there.

Probably every late night crawler in San Francisco has gone to Naan 'N Curry and Taquerias El Farolito to satisfy their after-hours cravings for food. It's a never-fail idea, but it's always good to have something new up your sleeve. If you want to skip the grease or heavy sauces, try heading over to Ryoko Sushi in Lower Nob Hill for some top-notch Japanese fare. The atmosphere is upbeat, the staff is friendly and the service is pleasing. The family-owned restaurant has been around for over two decades, so they must know a thing or two about making great food. Try the mouth-watering pork gyoza or crunchy, hot tempura vegetables for appetizers before diving into the sushi menu. Feel free to bring all the laughter and merriment from your night with you here - everyone's already having so much fun here, you'll fit right in.
9
I will have to check this one out. Do they have any veggie options?
13
they do! Try the paneer tikka masala. BEST thing on the menu!
9
That sounds really good. One of my favorite Indian dishes.

Taquerias El Farolito and Naan 'N Curry serve up some of the best “drunchies” (drunk munchies) in town -- but you don’t have to be hammered to feast on this fare. Taquerias El Farolito's gooey quesadilla suiza slathered in avocado salsa, and I dare you to find a more comforting late-night dish. Trust it is worth the inevitable loosening of your belt that will follow. If midnight Mexican food makes you queasy, warm up your chilly night with reasonably priced, piping hot naan bread and chicken tikka masala. Be sure to stop by an ATM on your mission to get grub -- most places only take cash in the wee hours of morning.
11
LOVE Taquerias El Farolito! Have you tried Papalote Mexican Grill? Best salsa ever!
38
"Drunchies"- good one, I will have to use that!

How late are they open? I get sick of diner food and pizza for late night feeding frenzies.
11
Last time I went pretty late and the kitchen was still open til 1am. It's a really good spot for late night dinner - their alcohol menu is killer.
1
Taquerias El Farolito at 24th and Abraham. The two-person quesadilla... holy cow.
55
Gotta love the Mission for having great hole-in-the-wall restaurants. If you're ever looking for Mexican breakfast, try Sun Rise Restaurant on 24th. It's a diamond in the rough for sure and a totally unexpected surprise from the way it looks on the outside. But they have a great selection of food, a friendly staff and some very interesting looking local art on the walls as well.
7
Rita I'm a huge fan of Taquerias El Farolito but I'm definitely going to check those places out. Any specific dishes I should try?
55
They have a great vegan breakfast burrito! I also really like their tofu scramble.
7
thanks for the tip! i usually don't go the vegan route but i may have to try that breakfast burrito.

Taquerias El Farolito has the BEST Mexican food and after a long night of drinking it does the trick. My recommendation: quesadilla suiza

7
you can't go wrong there. but i recommend the quesadilla suiza.
11
I concur! Quesadilla Suiza is delish - best late night, post party food ever! Everything about Taquerias El Farolito so greasy but oh so good. And I love how they have multiple places, all I have to do is look for the yellow sign!
