If you're into Karaoke, Wednesdays at El Rio cannot be beat! A roaring good time every week!

I won't deny I'm a bit of a fiend for dive bars but El Rio stands above even some of the swankiest bars in town (I'm saying that but haven't really been to any - HA!). The reason for this superiority comes from one element to rule them all: outdoor garden/terrace/patio party space.

You may not be able to breathe through your nose without inhaling a twig-thin hipster at this place, but that doesn't mean the PBR is gonna be warm! Cmon!

In all seriousness, if you're from out of town and have even an inkling to try out a different scene check out El Rio - the patio space is beautiful, they have a live performance space, and the drinks are cheap. El Rio is also only about 4 blocks away from the greatest burrito place in the world - El Farolito Taqueria - do yourself a favor and end up there after a great night at El Rio!

El Rio in Bernal Heights has the best outdoor happy hour with $1 PBR Mondays, $5 Bloody Mary's, free oysters on the half shell every Friday, and live entertainment. Not only are the prices cheap, the staff are polite, and the atmosphere is fun.

In Bernal Heights there's a little spot called El Rio where I love to go for a nice happy houron their outdoor patio. Sometimes they offer happy hour BBQ and free oysters just to wet your whistle while you enjoy a well made margarita or three and maybe a game of pool.
