Street Food: 5 Most Exotic Hotdog Vendors

Ah, the old-fashioned, all-American hot dog. It brings to mind baseball games, summer barbecues, Coney Island and school  picnics. It is usually served with relish, mustard, sauerkraut or chili; can be fat, thin, long or short. 

But despite all the golden bygone days and blissful childhood memories, the hot dog is undergoing a metamorphosis. No longer do the teeming, fast-food hordes settle for the ordinary unless it has something extraordinary to offer. So the hot dog, like its burly cousin the hamburger, is now being wrapped in bacon, served with dipping sauce, fried in corn meal, fitted into a slim baguette, topped with Asian condiments  – in short, the hot dog has traded up in status.
