The Mission Burrito Breakdown

Like organic food enthusiasts to the Ferry Plaza on Saturdays or desperate swingers to the Marina Safeway on any old night, burrito lovers have long flocked to the Mission to get their fix of everything from serious, no-nonsense meat-beans-rice combinations to all-out innovative ridiculousness rolled up in a tortilla.

While other spots in the city certainly serve up admirable Mexican bites, nothing really compares to what’s done in the 8-block blast radius of South-of-the-Border deliciousness surrounding the 24th Street BART stop.

Here we take a look at three Mission classics: Farolito, Gracias Madre, and Papalote—by no means the only great burritos in the Mission (in fact—shhh—one of the places doesn’t really even have burritos), but certainly some of its most famous.

Of course, if we left your favorite off the list, we are sorry in advance, and please don’t hurt us.
